Radar Drives for the Denver, Colorado - U.S.A. Airport
The National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) of Boulder, Colorado - USA was in charge of the radar systems for the new Denver Airport facility. NCAR is a United States Government agency which is involved in numerous similar projects. Byrne Gear units are used in a variety of civilian and military radar drive applications.

Gear Reducer for Barge-Mounted Pile Driver - Japan
Byrne Gear unit drives pile driver for this barge-mounted, marine construction system. The contractor for the pile driver on this project was Continental Machine Company (CONMACO) of Belle Chasse, Louisiana and Kansas City, Kansas - USA.

Electrode Manipulator Reducer Drive - Ohio - USA
A series of three reducers are required to lift and lower the electrodes used in the furnaces at the ARMCO Steel-Making facility in Mansfield, Ohio - USA. The average life of all three reducers was 9-12 months before a major maintenance overhaul was required. Byrne Gear was asked to replace the existing units because of our "long-life" guarantee. The retrofit took place in 1989 and there has been NO maintenance overhauls since then. Byrne Gear also manufactured special mounts and bearing arrangements in order to accommodate ARMCO's requirements

Electric generating wind turbines require a mechanical speed increaser to convert the high torque and low speed of the turbine propeller into high speed and low torque before this energy is transferred to the generator set. Byrne Gear's line of speed increasers have been utilized by numerous manufacturers and operators of wind turbines.
